Introducción: Las conductas sexuales de jóvenes al final de la adolescencia y durante la etapa de adultez emergente son influenciadas por diversos factores. Esta es una etapa marcada por la exploración y la inestabilidad con múltiples desafíos relevantes en el desarrollo de la identidad y las relaciones sexoafectivas, siendo las decisiones al respecto cruciales para la salud sexual y la prevención de comportamientos de riesgos asociados a mayores tasas de infecciones de transmisión sexual o embarazos no deseados. Este artículo sintetiza evidencia reciente sobre factores de riesgo en jóvenes. Objetivo: identificar factores de riesgo asociados al comportamiento sexual en jóvenes de 17 a 25 años en América del Norte. Metodología: Se realizaron búsquedas en las bases de datos Web of Science, Scopus, Pubmed, PsycINFO, Erudit en el periodo 2020-2024 siguiendo las directrices del protocolo PRISMA. Se consideraron estudios originales en inglés, francés y español que examinaran factores de riesgo para el comportamiento sexual en personas entre 17 y 25 años realizados en Estados Unidos, Canadá o México. Resultados: Un total de 11 estudios cumplieron con los criterios de selección, todos exploraron factores de riesgo asociados al comportamiento sexual, identificando riesgos asociados a características sociodemográficas y otros factores, principalmente, baja percepción de riesgo y consumo de alcohol y otras drogas. Conclusiones: Diversos factores influyen en el comportamiento sexual de los jóvenes, la influencia del contexto social y la cultura es particularmente relevante, especialmente en hombres. Estos factores deben abordarse de manera integral, considerando el desarrollo psicológico y social de los jóvenes.
